Whether you be bookman
Or you be halfbook man.
Whe you be teacher
Or you be school pikin.
Whether you be man
Or you be woman
Whether you be small man
Or you be big man.
I member say you savy that ‘shooting star’
Whe them de call’am say Bate Besong.
That man na A1 for Cameroon.
Forseka he book,
Plenty people them like BB.
Forseka he book,
plenty people them bad heart BB.
Some people them say BB
he book e strong pass mark.
Other one them say BB
he book na dasso curse fullup for inside.
BUT
Make I tell una some thing:
The thing whe e de worry people them for BB
he book na dasso de true talk whe e de talk’am.
Una savy say lie thief man e bad heart
man whe he de talk true talk
ME,
I like BB.
BB na strong bookman,
BB na man whe e like true talk,
BB na man whe e no de fear some man.
Na one thing that e make I de sing
this song for BB, Obassijom Warrior!
Bate Besong lives in our hearts and will do so for an indeterminable period of time. He lived a worthy life. He was really the Obassinjom Warrior for all people and even his adversaries envied him. The Boki people of Nigeria are dedicating a book to him, a book in which he himself contributed a chapter before his sudden demise. He was a compatriot indeed. Oshita O.
